Capacity building

CRDO along with HelpAge International is working for the rights and protection of older Peoples through Older People Association (OPAs) in District Nowshera, 26 OPAs are operating in the district and all are registered as CCB with Social Welfare Department Nowshera. The Project includes health trainings, revolving fund, CBDRM and provision of mobility aid to the older people.

With financial assistance from HelpAge Int’l, CRDO successfully implemented DRR project at Nowshera district. The project has three main components among which DRR was a separate and comprehensive sector with activities aiming at:

 

  • Capacity building of 26 village communities in Nowshera focusing CBDRM activities

  • Formation of search and rescue, management, first aid and information committees

  • Provision of DRR kit (stockpiles) including life saving jackets, first aid box, mega phone, fire blanket, bucket, working gloves, foot air pump, DRR charts, pliers, cutter, rope, wheel barrows and spades

  • Development of Village Preparedness Plan with entry and exit points

  • Chalking of higher grounds in the village

  • Arranged simulation exercise for community where members were oriented practically about search and rescue activities through participatory approach. Training was provided in evacuation techniques, patients handling, basic rope management, river crossing and repealing and water rescue.
